SO. We decided to spend our anniversary where we had one of our first dates, all those years ago - the Un-American Film Festival. Its a festival of short indie films that are critical of the government, concerned about social justice, that sort of earnest thing. Plus bands and open bar and a great view of the fireworks. Sweet. We were kind of broke, so we wanted to hit the open bar for as much as it was worth (if not more), so we arrived shortly after five. They were closing off that part of the river from people at 6, ...

Jen and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary today. It doesn't seem like that long ago that we met...but my life before seems a long time ago, like when I was a kid. Before, I lived somewhere but I didn't have a home. I wasn't lonely, but I wasn't in love. This way is better. I love you Jen. You help me be a better person. You help me learn more about myself and the world around me. You let me love you even though I am clumsy sometimes, or silly or wrong. Your skin is from a fairytale, ...

The other day I watched the GLAAD awards while I folded my laundry. It was the first year that the GLAAD awards were televised and I certainly hope its not the last, because although there were the usual drawbacks of any awards show (long, boring), it also had a lot going for it. Friday night I went to Jeremy's for dinner. Jen was supposed to come, and we were gonna be all couply and grown up, but she had to work, so it was just me and Jeremy and his wife Miriam. They are very smart and funny, we had tasty chicken and couscous and decadent pastries from The Hungarian Pastry Shop and I truly enjoyed myself. Saturday I tutored early, which really wasn't so bad except I'm tutoring two students who are in the "yeah, yeah I knew that" camp, which makes it hard to help them. It was fine though. Then ...

I am trying to get better at skateboarding. Not tricks or anything, just moving from place to place on a skateboard. It is hard though, not because skateboarding is hard, its really not that bad once you stop freaking out, but because people feel the need to judge me for trying it.Not my friends. My friends reactions range from support to amusement to disinterest. No. Its strangers who seem to really give a shit. Way more males than females skateboard. And you see tons of guys of all ages skateboarding, and some of them are good and some of them ...

With my new schedule I have more free time in the day, which is great, because I can get things done that I *have* to do - laundry, dishes, returning library books - but I also have time to do what I *want* to do, which is strangely, a much more difficult prospect. Cause first, I have to figure out what I want to do.Do I want to read a book? Write some fanfic? Write some real fiction? Put that rack on my bike? Take a bike ride? Skateboard? Take the dogs for a walk? Play guitar hero? Eat? Go ...
