I just picked up a copy of September's L'Officiel Brazil, and absolutely loved the "infinito" story photographed by Cristiano and styled by Daniel Ueda. It is one of the coolest features I have seen in a Brazilian fashion magazine in a long time, with the coolest new girls and impeccable styling. The first gay wedding in the northeastern state of Paraíba took place this past weekend. Edvaldo Brasil and Luciano Mondego signed a contract of stable union during an Afro-Brazilian ceremony in a packed auditorium at the state's public university. Gay rights group Arco-Íris has launched a national campaign in support of the law for criminalization of homophobia, which is currently waiting for approval in the senate. With the launch on an online petition at www.nãohomofobia.com.br, Grupo Arco-Íris aims to collect 1 million signatures in support of the law, to be delivered to senators by March of 2009. About 70 thousand signatures are expected to be collected in Rio during Gay Pride on October 12, thanks to 80 computers available on 4 different floats. Starting December 2010, the United Arab Emirates will get their own piece of Brazil with the launch of Brazilian Town, a complex slated to start construction in January in which Brazilian companies will be able to install their offices with the advantages of a free zone.
