Last week saw the release of Final Fantasy XIII, which set nerds, gay and straight, on high alert. Many of my friends were already hours into the game by the time it fired up on our PS3.
Guess what? Playing games is good for you, even if you never leave the couch! I've included a link for the best workout games below, but right now I want you to consider mental fitness. That's right, tone your brain!
Playing video games have shown positive effects on cognitive health (awareness, perception, reasoning, and judgment). Gaming is also ...
Residents of Queens, NY made their opposition to Hiram Monserrate clear yesterday by electing Jose Peralta as their new state senator. Monserrate has a notorious reputation in New York. He was a major player in the political debacle last summer where Republicans attempted a senate coup with the help of Monserrate and Senator Pedro Espada. Monserrate then became tabloid fodder over an ugly episode of domestic violence which ended in his conviction for misdemeanor assault. He had been videotaped forcibly dragging his injured and bleeding girlfriend through an apartment lobby but was acquitted of felony charges for slashing ...

Returning on the night of September 25 on the beach in Santa Monica. Downtown Santa Monica underwent a magical transformation when the Pier, beaches, and Palisades Park glowed with the sights and sounds of original contemporary art all night for the first Glow event in the United States in 2008. Now, planning for the 2010 Glow is in the works.
The official website/blog here.
Not everyone liked it in 2008.

In advance of the April 30 release of the Warner Bros Nightmare on Elm Street do-over starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, NECA is releasing a series of disturbingly realistic versions of the unfortunate Krueger as he appeared before, during, and after the fire that made him a charred monster. This may be the first time a doll is represented engulfed in flames. We never found the Freddy movies scary but a visit just now to the Figures.com site creeped us out.

Curiouser and CuriouserThe last time we sat in a movie theater, the movie happened to be Avatar just a day or two after Christmas. Yes, it's been that long since we've seen a movie, and we decided to break our unintentional cinematic sabbatical with Tim Burton's latest, Alice in Wonderland.Incorporating well-loved characters from both Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, Tim Burton's Alice is more action/adventure. Young Alice has suffered nightmare's all her life, and all depicting the same thing: falling down a rabbit hole into a wondrous land filled with talking animals and strange ...

The lovely Lydia Rendon, our Gossip Girl recapper who recaps from inside the neighborhood, does post-narration of the previous night's episode solely from the images still playing in her head. We're glad it's she and not we.
Surprise! Chuck's mother is alive, dun dun dun! OK, maybe not so much a surprise as it was two episodes ago when we all figured it out, but now it's official. After "investigating" her, Chuck confirms that Elizabeth is his mother. What he doesn't know, and at first doesn't care to know, is why he was always led to believe she died ...
The best of the '80s (He-man, duh) meets the worst of the '90s (4 Non-Blondes) in this gaytacular dance video. YOU MUST stick with it until the 1:30 mark when it speeds up, and I promise you will be rewarded. Of course, I'm a fool for Prince Adam no matter what he does. It's funny the things you find when you type "He-Man gay?" into Google.

This is the first television commercial that Salvador Dali muse and rumored tranny Amanda Lear made in her early modeling career. It was 1967, the product was the French perfume Detchema from Révillon, the music was by Françcois de Roublaix, and Lear was either 17 or 28. That's the stuff of legends.
