2017 WMBLEDON: Muguruza Wins 2nd Major, Denying Venus  »  The Mad Professah Lectures
In a surprisingly one-sided result, Garbiñe Muguruza won her first Wimbledon singles title by defeating 5-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams 7-5 6-0. It's Muguruza's 2nd major title, and curiously both have come with victories over Williams sisters (in 2016 she beat Serena in the French Open final). Bizarrely, the 23-year-old Spaniard has only won four WTA titles in her career and not even reached a final since winning the French 13 months ago. Many people have noted that Muguruza was coached here by the only other Spanish woman to ...

Lars Nilsen  »  5 Star Man
We normally try to avoid having to active models with the same name, but our ‘Lars of the week’ actually was given a name quite some time ago when we aired his casting. His photosession was so good though that we decided to save it for just the right moment and it seems that today is our lucky day. Although he is Czech, Lars would fit in perfectly with any of our Nordic neighbours, tall, blond, built and hung. Our pictures today are by Eliot and are taken in our Budapest studio. ...

Nine moons in this flat hot city. Working with a team of overachievers tired from the onslaught of a relentless jet lag. We all got sorta accidentally to fill hurriedly vacated gaps and always maintain the allurid professional continuum. This project tested our inner marathoner and mostly our flexible accommodating self. Brief commitments hardly woa calendar entry accumulated slowly to a tra formative effort. Joshua Cactus Gay Israeli in America ...

It's Happening! L Word Reboot.  »  Fannie's Room
The L Word is coming back. Supposedly. I'll believe it when I see it (And I hope I do):"Based on the original series, the reboot of 'The L Word' would center around a new ensemble of women, following their lives, loves and tribulations. However, if the project is greenlit, stars Jennifer Beals, Kate Moennig and Leisha Hailey are expected to serve as executive producers and appear in the series with their characters as a point of connection from the prior series to the new one. Other characters from the original series may also appear in the new version."I know queer women ...

Thankfully not for me since the idea of prepping for examinations again gives me the hives.A bit unsettled since the recent recession inconveniently rightsized a large number of the lucrative careers in oil and gas here, Charming Calvin has been filling his time with educating our mostly apathetic adolescents in mathematics and science. Surprisingly a childhood dream of his brought forward by a series of unfortunate events. Despite the tedious mental chore of refreshing one's memory with such complex calculus equations, Calvin seems quite up to the task of teaching a dozen or so disinterested teenagers in the classroom.Me, ...

You know how they say that "no news is good news"?... Yes, whoever said that is full of shit. The beef and barley soup I made last weekend was pretty decent... I don't think I put enough barley in to be honest... and the beef wasn't quite as tender as I was intending. But it was fairly tasty, none the less. The main problem I had with it was the fact that I don't have all that much of an appetite at the moment. So whereas previously I'd have a big bowl of soup at lunch, then come ...

2017 WIMBLEDON: Women's Final Preview (and Semifinals Review)  »  The Mad Professah Lectures
Here are my predictions for the women's final at the Wimbledon Championships for 2017. Last year I correctly predicted Serena Williams would beat Angie Kerber in the women's final and Andy Murray would beat Milos Raonic. This year I correctly predicted 2 of 2 men's semifinals, 2 of 2 women's semifinals4 of 4 women's quarterfinals and 2 of 4 men's quarterfinals.Women's Semifinals ReviewGarbiñe Muguruza (ESP) [14] d. Magadalena Rybarikova (RUS) 6-1 6-1. This match ended up being more of a mismatch, as Muguruza was ruthlessly aggressive, repeatedly approaching the net to control the outcome of ...

All Yesterdays: A Cognitive Shift In How We Look At Dinosaurs  »  Moonlight Investigation
All Yesterdays will make you love dinosaurs anew. The way we view dinosaurs, and the way that artists have depicted them, has changed greatly over the last century (and even over the last decade). Though a child of the 1980s, my love for dinosaurs started with hand-me-down dinosaur books from the 1960s and 1970s which depicted swamp-dwelling brachiosaurs and bulky, slow-moving biped hunters. At 10 years old my view of dinosaurs was changed forever by Jurassic Park (the book and movie, I was a bit of a JP junkie). Fast moving, sleek, powerful dinosaurs were now all the rage ...

"Joiner visitors"  »  Things I can't tell boyfriend number 1
[Although I'm now a retired blogger, I feel the need to post this … ]I like to think that I'm a (gay) man of the world. I've had a few boyfriends, and more than a few encounters with a varied selection men from all over the world, with a reasonable selection of activities too. So I don't think that anyone could call me naïve. Nonetheless, when I checked into a hotel with boyfriend K today, I didn't immediately realise what the following notice meant at the hotel reception:"You do understand it, don't you?" asks boyfriend K ...
