So, I’m reading Richard Wolffe’s article on Barack Obama and his team in Newsweek. Wolffe is doing a good job in saying that John McCain and Barack Obama are getting ready for each other. Barack is getting ready for an onslaught from the Right. The article is going along nicely until I get to this paragraph.
The McCain campaign is now poring over Obama’s record, looking for weaknesses that can be exposed without race-baiting or hitting below the belt. They want to brand Obama as a “superduper liberal who is out of the mainstream,” says one McCain adviser who ...
When I read this I couldn’t believe it. I thought that those guys that planned and plotted the attack on the USS Cole were caught tried and behind bars. I guess there was something that I missed. Some of those who were caught were thrown in jail only to be later released. So, what kind of cooperation are we getting from the Yemeni government? The bad kind, I guess. This is why i don’t believe that we are truly waging a war on terror. We should do what is necessary to protect our citizens. I know that the Israeli ...
Madonna released her first single in 1982. Her first album Like a Virgin came out in 1983. 24 years later and 20 or 30 hits later, Madonna is dancing around the Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. I think that this is a testament to what a great performer/artist she truly is. Very few in the music business can look at 25 years worth of work and smile and say that they are still on top. 4 minutes.

I’m not sure what Senator Hillary Clinton truly believes. Does she truly believe that she can win the nomination? Or as we have learned in the last several days that she may be fighting on to be in a better position to negotiate her withdrawal. In spite of tales of vast amounts of money flowing in the Clinton camp, she is drowning in debt. She maybe able to put herself into a position in which she could trade getting out of the race with Barack Obama’s camp assuming her multi-million dollar debt.
Interesting thought. I wonder if I can do ...
So, now what? Myanmar is looking worse by the minute. Jenna Bush is proving that neither she nor daddy are elitists in her designer wedding dress. Most of the show, I discuss the North Carolina primary and where the Democratic race goes from here. Fun show. Enjoy.

Throughout the 70’s when the Dallas Cowboys were clearly the best team in the NFL, Cowboys fans let losses roll off our backs. We were able to do this because we knew that the Cowboys were always the best team on the field. They just didn’t play up to their potential. Well, the Hillary supporters are now using the same argument that caused Pittsburgh Steeler fans to yell, “Look at the scoreboard” at Cowboy fans. They are trying to argue that Hillary Clinton would be best at the top of the ticket. She is the best candidate. That’s ...
Alan Jackson has turned his struggling career into a blockbuster. One of his first singles was a cute little tune about a river that runs just outside of Atlanta then Chattahoochee. Nice tune.

How can the news of more than 50,000 dead be any worse? Well, have a military government that is trying to stay in power. That’s how to make a bad situation worse. The government has taken UN aid (for itself). So, the UN is pulling out. If that isn’t bad enough, the US and other western countries have not been allowed in to help.
Update: It looks like the UN is being allowed back into the country. This is madness.

I took this picture of the Mississippi River last week from the window of an airplane.
The picture came out hazy.
Looking at the Mississppi River got me thinking about the Mark Twain biography I’m currently reading.
While Twain’s riverboat days were only a small portion of his life, I find them interesting.
I think part of that comes from my years living in Cincinnati along the shores of the Ohio River.
I’ve wondered what it must have been like when Cincinnati was a river town.
I’ve thought I might have been able to function in a frontier society that placed a value on self-creation. ( At least ...
The MSM is now returning to the theme that Hillary Clinton needs to find an exit strategy. My question is why? The math in this race for the Democratic nomination has not really changed in over 8 weeks. Hillary Clinton needed to have large victories since Texas and Ohio. (Do you even remember them?) While 1 out of 2 isn’t bad in Las Vegas, it is bad in this election. Senator Clinton needed 65-35 victories in both states and from then on. She has gotten neither.
On the money side of the equation, I found it odd that Senator ...
Great Show. Sorry I’m so late posting and it is out of order. :-( I cover this week’s good and bad news. Paul Waldman from Media Matters joins me. We discuss his new book - Free Ride: John McCain and the Media.

Wow, I thought that North Carolina was going to be a win for Obama. I was thinking by 8 points. While the votes are still being counted, it appears that Barack Obama will beat Hillary Clinton by more than 15 points.
As I said before, this doesn’t change anything. Hillary Clinton was behind without a realistic means of catching up before North Carolina. Now, she is slightly farther behind without a realistic means of catching up.

With Indiana and North Carolina, the largest cache of delegates before the convention in Denver, finished their voting process. What have we learned? Nothing. Nothing will be decided. Both candidates will have more votes and more delegates. Neither will drop out of the race. And so it goes.
I have been trying to look for a silver lining in all of this. Because everytime a candidate blows his or her nose, it is reported as news. The real crime is that we have had enough time for the news to completely cover each candidate’s position on real issues but they haven’t. ...
What identity could Barack Obama choose that would be both sincere and successful?
Not long ago, people were asking if Mr. Obama was “Black enough.” Somehow maybe even Bill Clinton was more Black than Senator Obama.
Once Senator Obama established his color, he then had to figure out how to present himself as a candidate who is also a Black man in a nation with a rough racial history.
He’s not a self-styled centrist like former U.S. Representative Harold Ford of Tennessee.
He’s not a careerist in a safe district like Representative Charles Rangel of New York.
He’s not an old-style activist like Jesse Jackson.
So who and what will ...
This is an excellent video put together by TPM media. (I wish I had the staff to put this kind of stuff together.) I think that it clearly shows that Hillary Clinton is pandering for votes. The gas tax holiday is bad on so many levels. These are clips from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton along with news personalities talking about the gas tax holiday.
