Finishing Anathem (thanks ineffably, Leonard and Sumana!) reminds me that I need to read more Iris Murdoch. They scratch the same sort of itch. I really enjoyed it, though I'm less confident of being able to predict which of my friends will dig it and which will find it tedious, compared to his other books, which are easier to narrow down in terms of flaws and virtues.
