A Fun Confetti Dress for Spring
Just recently the sun decided to pay us a visit in Seattle – the first such visit in many months. Those of you who blessed to lively in sunnier climates may not fully appreciate the joy and anticipation that a few clear, cloudless days can bring. Spring is just around the corner, and is one of my favorite seasons (along with fall) for crossdressing. The weather is warm enough to wear fun skirts, strappy heels and breezy sundresses. The cloying heat of summer has not yet arrived to bring sweat stains and force frequent ...
This is really neat. It clearly shows what people are worried about and what they are thinking.
From 538:
Gallup did something pretty cool in connection with their latest health care survey, which was to provide the verbatim responses (.xls) of the rationales given by people who would tell their Congressman to vote for or against the current health care bills, respectively.
I ran the responses through Wordle, a word-cloud generating tool, omitting certain words that were parts of speech or were otherwise nongermane.
Here are the words that were used most frequently by the 45 percent of the country who ...

Site: Daytona Beach Post Article: 'I am a boy' insists child born a girl Author: Eileen Zaffiro Deltona, FL One of the more enlightening stories we’ve recently seen is printed this week by Daytona Beach (FL) News Journal. Reporter Eileen Zafirro offers a touching portrait of a seven-year-old Deltona, Fla. child who has finally managed to convince his parents that he is a boy and not a girl. “He doesn’t say ‘I want to be a boy’; he says, ‘I am a boy,’” explained the youngster’s mother, who wants to remain anonymous to protect her child’s identity. ...
Southbeach Nightclub in Houston has an event every year that is all about Madonna. A night that you just dance, dance, dance, and dance. You can barely get in a drink or even get in a breath because you are dancing so hard. The drug is Madonna and her club music remixed by DJ Ed Bailey just makes a night like no other.
Here is a pic from the line outside of the club in Houston, TX where they throw the MadonnaRama event every Spring. The cover was only $10 and the place was packed with lines outside and reasonable drink ...
Trona viewed from near the Pinnacles.
The reason Trona exists.
Trona High School.
The famous Trona High School football field. It's behind the best 12-foot fence in town, so this is the best shot I could get.
I guess the post office is required to make their buildings match the ugliness of the town.
Valley Wells
In this area, several groups of midwestern emigrants, who had escaped from hazards and privations in Death Valley in 1849, sought to secure water from Searles Lake. When they discovered its salty nature, they turned northward ...

Berkeley Springs Water Tasting
A terrible photo of the award MSWD received, with Board President John Furbee in the background. Somebody needs to do a proper setup to get a photo of this with a black background.
Marilyn McKay gave a powerpoint presentation with photos from her trip to the 20th anniversary water tasting festival in Berkeley, West Virginia. A special award was presented to Mission Springs Water District for winning more trophies over the years than any other water ...
