Sometimes politics is really funny  »  Where's the Outrage?
So, I’m reading Richard Wolffe’s article on Barack Obama and his team in Newsweek. Wolffe is doing a good job in saying that John McCain and Barack Obama are getting ready for each other. Barack is getting ready for an onslaught from the Right. The article is going along nicely until I get to this paragraph. The McCain campaign is now poring over Obama’s record, looking for weaknesses that can be exposed without race-baiting or hitting below the belt. They want to brand Obama as a “superduper liberal who is out of the mainstream,” says one McCain adviser who ...

Hillary should stay in  »  esoterically.net/weblog
Cyrus had this to say in a comment to an earlier post: I think it’s important that, at this point, Hillary waits until after the West Virginia and Kentucky primaries to bow out, because it would be a bit of a psychological blow to the Democrats, as a party, to have the nominee lose the next two primaries. Don Frederick and Andrew Malcom of The Los Angeles Times agree with him: A quick Clinton exit wouldn’t help Obama “The Democratic race now moves to West Virginia,” Jay Leno noted the other night. “Today, Hillary Clinton claimed she always wanted to be a ...

SNL 05-10-08  »  esoterically.net/weblog
I missed most of Saturday Night Light last night, including the opening. In the event that you also missed it, here it is (courtesy of MightyRoaringLion)… There is probably a lesson here for Senator Hillary Clinton… You can’t take anything for granted, including SNL. Mrs. Clinton will, without doubt, win the Democratic primaries in West Virginia and Kentucky. Those are her states. Look, if you will, at the demographics… West Virginia: Population, 2006 estimate: 1,818,470 (about the size of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex) White persons, percent, 2006: 94.9% Bachelor’s degree or higher, pct of persons age 25+, 2000: 14.8% Kentucky Population, 2006 estimate: 4,206,074 White persons, percent, 2006: 90.2% Bachelor’s ...

Senator Clinton fighting for something  »  Where's the Outrage?
I’m not sure what Senator Hillary Clinton truly believes. Does she truly believe that she can win the nomination? Or as we have learned in the last several days that she may be fighting on to be in a better position to negotiate her withdrawal. In spite of tales of vast amounts of money flowing in the Clinton camp, she is drowning in debt. She maybe able to put herself into a position in which she could trade getting out of the race with Barack Obama’s camp assuming her multi-million dollar debt. Interesting thought. I wonder if I can do ...

Rasmussen Reports drops Clinton  »  esoterically.net/weblog
Pretty much speaks for itself… Daily Presidential Tracking Poll Rasmussen Reports has been tracking the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination daily for nineteen months… since November 2006. For the last few months, the most remarkable feature of the race has been its consistency and stability. Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are both running historic campaigns and both have captured the votes and hearts of distinct and important constituencies within the Democratic Party. Obama has won Primaries in states where the demographics favor his campaign and Clinton has won in the states that favor her campaign. However, while Senator Clinton has ...

“For the first time this campaign season, Barack Obama has surpassed Hillary Clinton’s support among superdelegates, according to the ABC News delegate estimate. Sen. Obama, D-Ill., picked up two superdelegates this morning giving him a new metric to tout in addition to his current commanding leads in pledged delegates, popular votes, states won, and money raised.” [ABC News] ...

SAILOR TEACHES AMERICAN TROOPS GAY TOLERANCE  »  gay blog
Lawyers and congressional aides trying to overturn America’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy have heard from an Australian sailor about how gay and lesbian defence force members were allowed to serve openly. Chief Petty Office Stuart O’Brien, currently based at HMAS Kuttabul in Potts Point, was invited to give an address on the Australian military’s experience of gay inclusion at Georgetown University’s law school in Washington DC last month and attend the annual dinner for the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN), which fights the gay ban. A number of retired US officers are hoping the Australian evidence will help ...

Pleas, Demands  »  Queerty
Senator Hillary Clinton wrote a letter to rival Barack Obama today pleading with him to count Michigan and Florida. Because, you know, she needs a bit of a boost to win this thing. An unfriendly excerpt: “Your commitment to the voters of these states must be clearly stated and your support for a fair and quick resolution must be clearly demonstrated.” Really, Hillary? Sexy, Sexy Obama  »  That Queer Expatriate
Now that there are only a smattering of states left to vote in the Democratic nomination process, I might as well come out of the closet. I want to fuck Barack Obama. Seriously, he is sexy: nice body, dresses well, can say all the sweet nothings that will make my heart swoon. He reminds me of John F. Kennedy—another presidential candidate who, when I watch footage from 1960, I want to fuck. Actually, when I look back at photographs and footage of presidential candidates over the last fifty years, I come up with a list of people who I never want to see ...

The writing’s on the wall for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. And Time magazine! The small note reads “Really, we’re pretty sure this time…” ...

Where to go from here?  »  Where's the Outrage?
The MSM is now returning to the theme that Hillary Clinton needs to find an exit strategy. My question is why? The math in this race for the Democratic nomination has not really changed in over 8 weeks. Hillary Clinton needed to have large victories since Texas and Ohio. (Do you even remember them?) While 1 out of 2 isn’t bad in Las Vegas, it is bad in this election. Senator Clinton needed 65-35 victories in both states and from then on. She has gotten neither. On the money side of the equation, I found it odd that Senator ...

May 6 finals and $6.4 mil  »  esoterically.net/weblog
Good Morning. Here are the final numbers from yesterday’s primaries… NORTH CAROLINA: Barack Obama, 890,695 votes, 56%; Hillary Clinton, 657,920 votes, 42%. INDIANA: Barack Obama, 623,294 votes, 49%; Hillary Clinton, 641,734 votes, 51%. The popular vote in the two states combined was 1,513,989 for Mr. Obama and 1,299,654 for Mrs. Clinton — a difference of 214,335 in favor of Mr. Obama. I’ll stand by my prediction of last night. Senator Obama clinches the nomination in Oregon on May 20. Meanwhile, the Clinton camp is having financial difficulties (again)… Clinton lends herself $6.4M as Obama’s lead grows WASHINGTON (AP) - A campaign aide says Hillary Rodham Clinton ...
