Proverbial reverend Al Sharpton insists he did not out Anderson Cooper.
Sharpton appeared on Cooper’s CNN show Wednesday to discuss James Dobson’s attack on Barack Obama, who Dobson claims is “distorting” the bible. Arguing against Dobson, Sharpton said, “I may have some very conservative personal feelings, but I feel you have the right to live your life differently. I may think that what you do Anderson is gonna put you in Hell, but I’m gonna defend your right to get there.” Loads of people took this to be an unintentional “outing.”
Sharpton, however, claims he’s clueless to Cooper’s ...
Take a look at the following video and tell me you can't imagine that extreme religious groups in America could ever trigger the same sectarian strife that currently plagues the Middle East. I don't think you can draw that conclusion...and I'm convinced that the evidence supports the contention that ideological intransigence has led some religious leaders to the precipice of promoting acts of anarchy.
The gist of this video and many of the sermons that are being delivered in churches around the country is that the Bible is the only valid law. Further, the inference is that it is acceptable ...
A few weeks ago Uncle Bill posted on Birmingham Blues:
I told my nephew recently that my goal for the rest of my life is to somehow show him and others that Christians aren’t all crazy hate-mongers. I’m afraid I have my work cut out for me.
He’s right with the recent odor wafting from the people who claim to represent Christians.
I know that these people don’t really represent Christians in the majority really. Hell, these people don’t even represent Christ, as most of them are acting like they haven’t even studied his teachings.
Take for instance this:
that is a ...
James Dobson’s comments on “fruit cake” Barack Obama have been getting a lot of play this week. Journo Jeffrey Feldman can’t help but wonder why the press hasn’t been taking a closer look at Dobson, who definitely qualifies as a bit nutty:
This week, right-wing pundit and leader of the ‘beat your children’ movement, Dr. James Dobson, accused Sen. Barack Obama of committing violence against Biblical teachings.
Despite Dobson being a best-selling self-help guru famous for advising parents to whip their children with sticks, every mainstream media outlet somehow managed to overlook this fact. Instead, media coverage of Dobson’s ...
OOOOOOHHHHHHH! This is delicious. A coalition of Christians have banded together in support of Barack Obama! From their site, James Dobson Doesn't Speak for Me:We are a coalition of pastors and other Christians, lead by Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell (he married Jenna Bush) who are standing up for our Christian faith and supporting Barack Obama. We are signing in our individual capacities and not on behalf of our churches or denominations.Damn, that has to sting! When your fellow Christians are against you, it's time to throw in the towel and stop spreading hate and intolerance. How long before he ...
In reaction to the Focus on the Family head's claims that Barack Obama is following a "fruitcake" interpretation of the Bible, a coalition of pastors (including Kirbyjon Caldwell, the Texas minister who married Jenna Bush) have launched a new site called "James Dobson Doesn't Speak For Me," on which they're asking folks to pledge their non-support for the prominent religious right figure. Go join in on the fun:
James Dobson Doesn't Speak For Me
Upon hearing of the site, Jesus was heard to respond: "FINALLY! I've been wanting to start that site for years ...
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper found himself the center of attention on his eponymous show last night.
The silver fox had invited Focus On The Family’s Tony Perkins, journo Roland Martin and Reverend Al Sharpton, whom we were surprisingly happy to see you. Well, we weren’t happy to see him, but we were tickled pink when, while discussing James Dobson’s blasting of Barack Obama, Sharpton kinda, sorta outed Cooper: “I may have some very conservative personal feelings but I feel you have the right to live your life differently. I may think that what you do Anderson is gonna ...
In a discussion about the James Dobson attacks on Obama I posted about yesterday, Anderson Cooper hosted Al Sharpton, author Roland Martin and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins. As the three debated Evangelicals and the issues of homosexuality, HIV and AIDS, abortion, and religious tolerance, the conversation took a turn when Sharpton pointed out that Anderson may land in Hell for his behavior, whatever that might be...
Says Sharpton: "I may have some very conservative personal feelings but I feel you have the right to live your life differently. I may think that what you do Anderson is gonna ...
