A Poorly Conceived Show of Support  »  Box Turtle Bulletin
This past week a parent of a first grader in San Francisco thought it would be a good and supportive act to have the children in the first grade class surprise the teacher by showing up for her wedding to her same-sex partner. The school’s interim director thought this was a good idea and a “teaching moment” and so they organized a field trip. In total, 18 children from the charter school participated and two families chose to have their children remain at school with another first grade class. I do not think that first graders are too young ...

Donations to Yes-On-8 are Accidentally Going to Tasteful Gay Erotica SFist  »  gay blog
The "people" behind Prop 8 -- the anti-marriage amendment -- may or may not be up to something sneaky. We observed yesterday that their ads were showing up on Fog City Journal -- a site that, we suspected, wouldn't want anything to do with that sort of degenerate advertising. We were also surprised to see them on the otherwise-reputable FiveThirtyEight.com. And now this: a gay blog (very gay) has accused the Prop 8 campaign of purposely buying Google ads on gay sites. This has resulted in bizarre situations such as the one pictured at left: where ...

Cold Stone founders give $10k to anti-gay cause  »  Q-Notes
With at least 50 locations across the Carolinas — including Columbia, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Raleigh, Wilmington and Myrtle Beach — Cold Stone Creamery is one of the most popular ice cream shops around. Its founders also happen to be supporters of Arizona’s anti-LGBT, anti-family marriage amendment, Proposition 102. Cold Stone parent company Kahala Corp told [...] ...

Arizona Together’s TV Ad Against Prop 102  »  Box Turtle Bulletin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DipQctQ6J1Q Arizona Together has begun showing these ads around the state to drum up opposition to Prop 102, the so-called “marriage amendment.” It costs about $375 to air one ad on one television station. So by my calculation, this means that:
  • $375 pays for one television spot,
  • $750 pays for two spots,
  • $1875 pays for five spots…
Okay, so you get the picture. And even if you can’t afford a triple-digit contribution, every little bit helps. Even a tenth of a television spot will make a difference when bundled with nine others. Arizona became the first in the nation to defeat one of these ...

Prop 8 backers have a new website - and six stupid lies to support their prejudice  »  gay blog
Earlier we reported on how the bigots backing Prop 8 redesigned their web site to try and attract younger voters.   They are at it again.   This time they have paid (hopefully big bucks) to distribute a news release deceptively titled "Young Voters Warn Californians About Impact of Gay Marriage." Yes friends, we got trouble right here in River City.   You see "Young adults desperately warn voters about the unfavorable consequences of same-sex marriage before November's election!"   Yes, "Those in favor of Proposition 8, the marriage amendment which defines marriage as only between a man and a woman, ...

Arizona Needs Your Help  »  Box Turtle Bulletin
Remember the state that became the first in the nation to defeat a so-called “marriage amendment” in 2006? Arizona desperately needs your help today in 2008: Supporters of a measure that would change Arizona’s constitution to ban gay marriage have raised $6.9 million, 17 times more than opponents have raised, according to figures released Thursday. Arizona became the first state in the nation to defeat the so-called marriage amendment in 2006. Today, our opponents are furious that they lost, and they are pouring millions of dollars into the state to upset the will of the voters. They threatened and coerced the ...
