Publicists in the Making: Practice Pitches in the PR Bullpen  »  Out and About
Tuesday, I made a trip to the University of Texas as a guest speaker for Tamara Bell’s entertainment public relations course. I broke the class up into seven groups who created fictional companies, and these companies pitched real potential entertainment clients to me. They pitched me in the classroom — live — through Twitter, Facebook, e-mail, by “fake” phone and in person. After reviewing these pitches, a select team of students helped choose the most promising pitch, which is headed, in some form, to my column. Group 1 - Front Row Communications: In true Austin style, raising money and food ...

Woofs enjoys full house for Super Bowl [photos]  »  Project Q Atlanta
VIEW PHOTOS | Super Bowl Sunday @ Woofs If you ever need evidence that the National Football League appeals to gay fans, look no further than Woofs on Super Bowl Sunday. So take that, Donny Deutsch. The gay sports bar, which is nestled in a strip retail center on Piedmont Road in Buckhead, was wall-to-wall gay sports fans on Sunday. They were focused on the New Orleans Saints as they downed the favored Indianapolis Colts 31-17, enjoying the action on the field and the commercials surrounding it on the nearly 30 televisions stationed in the seven-year-old bar. In other words, the 1,900-square-foot ...

Electrifying Happiness  »  BRETTCAJUN
I have never seen the city of New Orleans filled with so much happiness. After the Saints Superbowl victory, it was as if we were all placed under an intense happiness spell free from any prejudice. It was the human condition at it's finest. Horns were blaring, bands were jamming, and people were happily marching down the streets. Strangers were giving each other high fives, hugs, and kisses. It didn't matter if you were white, black, straight, or gay. We were one city... one people... celebrating our team's finest hour.Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints... Superbowl Champions!!! ...

Congratulations New Orleans Saints!  »  Where's the Outrage?
The New Orleans Saints have defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a fabulous game. Thankfully, we did not see the lopsided games that we saw five or 10 years ago. Maybe, just maybe the NFL has really achieved parity. No, I don’t think so. That was wishful thinking. I think teams are better prepared for the Super Bowl and therefore don’t make the early mistakes that have plagued some of our Super Bowls. As I thought, both offenses were able to move the ball. Both defenses worked hard to prevent the big play. The New Orleans Saints defense did probably ...

Daddy Of Super Bowl Sunday  »  Dwight Supremacy
The Super Bowl has felt like such a non-event for me this year. So I needed a reason to watch and care about the outcome of the game, and I got that one reason to root for the New Orleans Saints, in the form of pro-gay rights/marriage linebacker SCOTT FUJITA, who "aside from his views on gay rights … seems like he has a great head on his shoulders (not to mention a vgl one)." I might add that in addition to those big, strong shoulders are hairy pecs, bulging biceps, and rippling abs: ...

A gay guide to the Super Bowl & straight guys  »  Project Q Atlanta
Ready or not, you are bound to come in contact with Super Bowl XLIV and straight guys today. While your gay world may not come to a halt, the rest of the country has and we’ve got tips to help you survive. There are plenty of gay angles surrounding the game, what with the Tim Tebow ad, the rejection of the ManCrunch commercial and the slew of hot jocks, including Sam Giguere, gay-marriage loving Scott Fujita (photo) and a shirtless, milk-slurping Reggie Bush. But let’s get to the game. Advertising exec Donny Deutsch may not think you watch the game, but we ...

NFL: Super Bowl edition  »  Where's the Outrage?
It began back in August or July for some of these players. The two-a-days, the film study, weightlifting, the mental and physical preparation has come down to this day. The New Orleans Saints versus the Indianapolis Colts. If you’d like to look at the hard numbers, Brian is giving the Colts a 52% chance of winning. I know that the smart folks are saying that Peyton Manning is just too much for the New Orleans Saints. That may be true. In spite of all the conventional wisdom, I think the New Orleans Saints will be prepared to play and ...

SUPER BOWL BOUND!!!  »  BRETTCAJUN
The New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl! The 31-28 OT victory nearly gave me a heart attack. NFL: divisional games on Saturday  »  Where's the Outrage?
Before this gets more out of control, but we say that I thought that the Arizona Cardinals if it played a perfect game could stay with the explosive New Orleans Saints. The Saints have an average defense which is clearly vulnerable. The one thing that stands out on this defense is that they are ball hawks. They create turnovers and they capitalize on turnovers. Although this game is far from over, for all practical purposes, it’s over. Reggie Bush is playing like the player we thought he would be two years ago. He has explosive. Indianapolis Colts versus the Baltimore Ravens. ...

The Saints will RULE THEM ALL!  »  BRETTCAJUN
I am nervously excited about the Saints vs. Cardinals playoff game tomorrow. The New Orleans Saints (13-3) are on a three game losing skid. NFC Playoffs  »  Where's the Outrage?
Let me start off by saying that the Cowboys and the Packers are playing the best football in the NFC right now. Six weeks ago, no doubt the New Orleans Saints and the Minnesota Vikings were playing the best football. Things have changed. I think both the Saints and the Vikings have to figure out what’s wrong with their offensive lines. Neither group is playing particularly well heading into the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles can be any team at any time. They had more of an up-and-down year than most NFL teams. Heck, they went into Oakland and laid a huge ...

Are the Dallas Cowboys for real?  »  Where's the Outrage?
It is now five days after the Dallas Cowboys beat the New Orleans Saints. This game took place in New Orleans — in the Superdome. The New Orleans Saints were undefeated. They played some great football. Drew Brees had demonstrated that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The New Orleans defense was collecting turnovers like kids collect baseball cards. The Dallas Cowboys have been stuck in a mode that I will label “Groundhogs Day.” This is where early in the season they come out and have some magnificent performances. Then, in the middle of the ...

NFL week 14: it’s time to get serious  »  Where's the Outrage?
I love this time of year in the NFL. I really don’t like August and September. A lot of people who look great in August and September fade into nothingness by December. In December everybody is sore. Everybody’s nursing at least one if not to injuries. Teams have lost some major players to injuries and have had to adapt. This is where your separate the superstars from the pretenders. The early games The New Orleans Saints versus the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Schaub is out. Atlanta looked plenty vulnerable last week. Look for New Orleans to figure out a way to win this ...

Time to put up or shut up  »  Where's the Outrage?
One of the things that is so enjoyable and exciting about the NFL is that every game is important. Of course, if you are the Cleveland Browns that might not be true. (the Cleveland Browns, the Oakland Raiders, the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all fighting for the worst team in the NFL crown. No matter what Cleveland’s record is I’m taking them off the list since they beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.) The Browns showed up and beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a cold Thursday night. The Steelers simply had no offensive line. If ...
