I really should have paid more attention in English class. Or, rather, I should have paid more attention to my grammar lessons. (Probably any hard-core grammarian who’s read the blog would concur.) But I spent the better part of my time as an English Lit. major in creating writing classes, and post-war literature. In his column where he compares gays and polygamists while insisting he is not doing so, David Reinhard implies that arguments such as "They are our brothers, our sisters, our neighbors, our friends . . ." aren't good gay-rights arguments because they could also be applied to polygamists or other obviously undesirable groups ("Hooked on a feeling that dare not speak its name," June 22). I guess that's true; after all, Republicans are our family, neighbors and friends, and look at all the lies they spread, the destructive policies they enact, the constitutional rights they eliminate and the prejudice ...
