So since our blog was added to Hype Machine (and use Soundcloud) we get a lot of music sent to us. Most of it is stuff we'd never post because it's either bad or just not relevant to our (primarily) queer blog. However, since we are in Chicago I feel like we should support a couple of local artists who are doing some pretty great stuff. The first of the songs I'm gonna highlight from Chicago area producers/djs comes from This Guy I Know. We first internet-met TGIK when he sent us over a remix he did of Bright ...
It was a sad few days learning about actor Andrew Koenig who played Boner on the 80's sitcom Growing Pains. He went missing on Valentine's day and his body was found yesterday in Stanley Park in Vancouver. All reports are that he committed suicide as a result from his battle with depression.Today, I had to stop and give thanks to God for helping me get through my own struggles of depression. It has been such a blessing getting to understand the madness I have been living with for so long. Despite some of the problems that may occur or ...
I've exceptionally lucky to have some great places to write for - and one of my favorites is Forum UK. In fact if you rush out to your local newsagent (if you live in the UK, that is) you might even be able to find not one but two issues with contributions from little ol' me.The first is in Vol. 44, No.1: The Sensual Art of Caning. Here's a taste:“Are you ready, Worthless Slave?” Mistress Nastina growled with disgust, tapping one of her finest birching rods in the palm of one of her shapely, though frighteningly strong, hands. ...
For Valentine's Day, my mom got me a wok cookbook and Shane gave me a beautiful wok for Christmas. Tonight I used both gifts and made a Chicken and Cashew Stir Fry that was De Lish Us! Though the recipe says it serves four, the two of us ate nearly the whole thing ourselves. Here's the recipe:Ingredients: -- 1/2 cup cashews-- 1 red bell pepper-- 1 lb. chicken breast-- 3 tablespoons peanut oil-- 4 garlic cloves, chopped-- 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine or dry sherry (I didn't have either, so I just used red wine)-- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce-- ...
Sunday saw Jim and I headed down to Folkestone, via a pick up in Snodland of my Nan, for some time with my family. Some ongoing family drama meant I didn't see my sister that much but she did make an appearance.
For the evening entertainment, and some Valentine's Day time alone, Jim and I headed into Hythe to find NOTHING WAS OPEN. The Globe, The Red Lion, the Chinese with the scary Chinese lady, and just about any other pub we could find was closed. We eventually found ourselves in The Kings Head, which turned out to ...
As commercialized as Valentine's Day has become over the years, it also has become a prime opportunity for the LGBT community to make our lack of partnership rights visible whether it's in the United States or any other country that 'observes' the unofficial ode to lovers.Take France, for example. One of our favorite French blogs posted an amazing video of a massive kiss-in that took place in Paris ("Yagg: Kiss-in against homophobia"). The awesome scene has been a sensation and been picked up by a lot of the big blogs out there including The Huffington Post, ...
I wrote this a couple years ago, but many of you weren’t around then and have not delighted in the History of Valentine’s Day, and so here you go…

spencer pratt might be able to answer that question - he was celebrating valentine's day eve in las vegas (at pure) with his recently remodeled and retooled wife heidi montag (they celebrate one year of wedded and annoying bliss in april) who had ten plastic surgery procedures in one day - i guess life in plastic is fantastic for ms. montag! if you can bear it - get a look at her new boobs in this picture - they're HUGE (soon we might see 'em unveiled in playboy magazine - she's ...
You know, I had a whole thought process about what to add to this post this morning, and now it's all gone... I hate that.Work has been a little bipolar... I did win third prize in the Valentine's Day raffle at work (proceeds to Haiti), which was red wine, which is mostly pointless, but it's the Taylor's brand, with the seahorse logo, so Ma will end up with it.On the down side, H-San was in a mood all day, and when he's in a mood, it just sucks all the life out of the place.Unconscious Mutterings...
Happy Valentine's DayWe turned our Valentine's Day Weekend into a live theater weekend. Because we're gay, and that's how we roll.Saturday evening, we braved a trek into the Orange Curtain to catch a performance from comedian Jo Koy at the Irvine Improv. He has to be the funniest man on the planet! He had us almost in tears with his tales of his snoring problems, his Mother, orange chicken and so much more. Plus, his opening act -- Thai Rivera -- got things off to a hilarious start. IF either of them ever perform in ...
