So since our blog was added to Hype Machine (and use Soundcloud) we get a lot of music sent to us. Most of it is stuff we'd never post because it's either bad or just not relevant to our (primarily) queer blog. It was a sad few days learning about actor Andrew Koenig who played Boner on the 80's sitcom Growing Pains. He went missing on Valentine's day and his body was found yesterday in Stanley Park in Vancouver. All reports are that he committed suicide as a result from his battle with depression.Today, I had to stop and give thanks to God for helping me get through my own struggles of depression. When I was up at my Mom's over Valentine's Day weekend, I trudged through the very deep snow to the forsythia bush in her backyard and cut off some bare sticks, smashed the ends, and stuck them in a vase. For Valentine's Day, my mom got me a wok cookbook and Shane gave me a beautiful wok for Christmas. Tonight I used both gifts and made a Chicken and Cashew Stir Fry that was De Lish Us! Though the recipe says it serves four, the two of us ate nearly the whole thing ourselves. Sunday saw Jim and I headed down to Folkestone, via a pick up in Snodland of my Nan, for some time with my family. Some ongoing family drama meant I didn't see my sister that much but she did make an appearance.

As commercialized as Valentine's Day has become over the years, it also has become a prime opportunity for the LGBT community to make our lack of partnership rights visible whether it's in the United States or any other country that 'observes' the unofficial ode to lovers.Take France, for example. Happy Valentine's DayWe turned our Valentine's Day Weekend into a live theater weekend. Because we're gay, and that's how we roll.Saturday evening, we braved a trek into the Orange Curtain to catch a performance from comedian Jo Koy at the Irvine Improv. He has to be the funniest man on the planet! He had us almost in tears with his tales of his snoring problems, his Mother, orange chicken and so much more.
